Mr Hewes is an expert Bariatric surgeon having performed over 1000 major weight loss procedures. He specialises in Gastric Bypass (Mini bypass or Roux-en-Y), Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Band as well as revision surgery. Often hernias are viewed as a minor inconvenience, however Mr Hewes knows that they can be very uncomfortable and cause significant symptoms. Hernias can often stop people from being able to enjoy good aspects of life such as sporting activities and quality family time. Mr Hewes provides surgery for all types of abdominal and groin hernias including Inguinal, Femoral, Incisional, Ventral and Umbilical. He also repairs recurrent hernias. Surgery is often performed laparoscopically (using the keyhole technique) which leads to an earlier recovery and return to normal activities, although the technique depends on the nature and size of the hernia.

Gallstone operations are performed as a keyhole operation and most people are discharged on the same day.
Mr Hewes also provides surgery for hiatus hernia and acid reflux (fundoplication) as well as gastroscopy to investigate conditions in the upper GI tract.
